Photograph the whole item and the route
A close photo alone does not show whether a sofa fits through the doorway or whether an appliance must travel down a narrow staircase.
- Include item dimensions where possible
- Photograph stairs, landings and tight turns
- State whether an elevator must be reserved
Disclose weight and special construction
Pianos, safes, solid-wood furniture, exercise machines and built-in equipment may require a different labour plan or may not be suitable for ordinary pickup.
- Do not underestimate very heavy items
- State whether disassembly is required
- Identify bolts, anchors or utility connections
Prepare mattresses and upholstered furniture
Keep upholstered items reasonably dry and disclose visible contamination, pests, mold or bodily-fluid concerns.
- Do not wrap wet items in sealed plastic
- Disclose bed bugs or pest concerns
- Clear bedding and personal items before pickup
